This study examines consumer perceptions and usage of safe and readily available drugs, ten years after the introduction of the sales system, and explores institutional improvements to ensure safe use and consumers’ right to know. A total of 415 adults aged 20s to over 50s (about 100 per age group) participated in the survey. Key areas investigated were awareness, purchase and use experience, understanding of labeling, and demands for system improvement. Results indicate that consumers generally use these drugs as intended and possess a basic understanding, but show limited awareness regarding differences from OTC(over-the-counter) drugs, compliance requirements, and accessibility of labeling information. Major limitations identified include poor readability of current labeling, one-off education for dstributors, and restrictions on product categories. The study suggests strengthening consumer-centered information provision, improving labeling, and enhancing system efficiency as policy directions.
