This study investigated the anti-inflammatory effect with ethanol-extract of Corchorus olitorius cultivated in a smart farm. Analysis of chlorogenic acid in C. olitorius extract was performed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and as a result, the chlorogenic acid content of C. olitorius extract was 17.5 mg/g. The effect of C. olitorius extract on the expression of inflammatory mediators, such as interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and nitric oxide (NO) was examined in murine macrophage cell line, RAW264.7 using ELISA and RT-PCR. C. olitorius extract inhibited the production of NO, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) at a dose-dependent manner. These results suggest that C. olitorius cultivated in a smart farm can be effectively utilized as a therapeutic agent for inflammatory disease.
